Recently in my area …
Hugs to all Bangkokians during this chaotic time. I guess those who live in risky areas like me pass the day with a big fat cloud looming over our heads, thinking ” will our area be hit ? how bad will it be ? ” Right now we are safe because of the flood walls built along the Chao Phraya River. Here are some pictures around my area taken during the 5 day flood panic holidays.
The sidewalks next to the flood walls in our area cracked and started spewing water like a water fountain. Sandbags are placed around it and now people who fish on the pier place their catch inside. May I say , with the flood, they have been catching really huge catfishes.
This is a bicycle lane where you can bike right next to the Chao Phraya River. It is now flooded ankle-high.

Walking further down the bicycle lane, we found volunteers lining up to form an express sandbag lane. The sandbags are passed from the church to reinforce a weakened flood wall. The water level was knee-high then, now it has risen up to the thighs

This is Sanam Luang, a huge park that was only just renovated on the other side of the river. This was taken when the tide was rising, turning one side of the park into a lake. Some places like Chinatown gets flooded when the tide rises, after a couple of hours water drains off into the city’s canals and things go back to normal.

pray pray pray for Thailand!
aww, thanks. This is my second great flood . The first one was much more enjoyable as I was still young and school got cancelled 🙂
