How to Draft & Sew Sheer Skirt w/ Lining
I made some sheer skirts with removable lining 🙂 The video will show you how to draft / cut / sew . Skills cover are the French seams ( great for sheer , see-through fabric ), gathering the waist, sewing an elastic waistband , and making a ” lazy hem “.
The pattern formula for each skirt :
Notes :
- The lining skirt has the waistband and hem calculated into the pattern and does not need an extra waistband. This is done to make the lining shorter than the sheer skirts so that it doesn’t poke out.
- When drafting the “Less Gathers ” sheer skirt, make sure the sides are the same length. Start with the front piece, measure the sides, then use that to draft the rectangle back piece.
- When sewing the waistband/ hem of the lining and the “less gathers” skirts, use a curve ruler to smooth the waistline / hem line.
