DIY : A Floral Maxi Dress
I was on pinterest and saw this :
a maxi skirt pattern by knackmag.com for knit fabric. Since the fabric I have is some kind of non-stretchable cotton blend fabric with a good amount of drape ( no idea what it is called ), I replaced the “C” measurements to my hips measurements. I also incorporated the elastic casing into the skirt’s waistband. All you do is extend both sides of the waist upwards so that it is long enough to be folded over the elastic band plus about 3 cm more as seam and band allowance. There is a very clear tutorial at Extra Petite ( step 6 ) so no need for me to make a tutorial. It’s already beautifully done !
Another way is to sew the elastic band right onto the skirt which is even faster. A good tutorial will be DanaMadeIt‘s circle skirt tutorial. I made a version of that skirt and the elastic band part was a breeze. However, hemming a circle skirt takes much patience and practice, I think.
