How to Upcycle a Puffer Jacket
I like to hang out at the kids’ section when thrift shop hunting. Their clothings are way cuter than the adult’s section and so well made. If you live in Bangkok, there is a chain store here that imports second hand clothing from Japan and Korea. It’s called Shinjuku Outlet . The regular items are sold by weight. Their price is 35 baht ( that’s around 1 US dollar-ish ) per 100 gm. They also have a clear stock section where you can buy 3 pcs for 100 baht ( 3 US$-ish )
For a child size jacket, it is usually around 150 baht ( 5 US$-ish ). All the components and materials are designed to match, so it is a good deal. The jacket then turns into a fun puzzle. Here is what was made with it :
The video tutorial is below. It includes planning out the cuts, tips on working with a downs feather jacket , and also sewing steps for the above.
I really like the hoodie bag cuz while sewing it up, it’s shape was like a whale, lol. At that time, I was binge watching the K-drama ” Extraordinary Attorney Woo ” and there were a lot of whimsical whale CGIs. So lovely π
I hope this tutorial is useful and that you enjoy it ! Happy upcycling !
