Upcycle a Cement Bag
Today’s tutorial is turning this cement bag :
… into a cross body bag, with many looks :
The flap can be folded either way, so the design on the sack can be maximized. It can also be used unfolded. Bag bottom is 8 cm, but you can make it bigger or smaller, it will be in the video below :
Extra notes :
- Check to see if the color bleeds. Some does, some doesn’t. I don’t have a problem with that. I think the print will look nice as it “matures” and fades with usage.
- After you cut the top and bottom off the sack, you can roll the bag around to get a design that you like. These sacks are manufactured in a tube shape, so there are no side seams on the sack.
I added a sewing “cheat sheet” where it contains all the measurements. You can find it –> Here <– If the bag you are recycling is in a different size, focus on the ” Sewing Positions for Components “. The measurements are measured from the bag’s opening, downwards. The important point is to divide the bag’s opening area into 4 equal sections. This will make the bag’s closures match. The actual length used for this bag is 34 cm ( bag’s body ) + 5 cm ( bag’s bottom + seam allowance ).
